We have several styles of Davy Crockett Hat available.  Before ordering a hat, please use a measuring tape to measure the size of your head where the hat will sit to reduce the chance of getting the wrong size.  Click HERE for a headwear conversion chart.  If the hat does not fit or you wish to return it for any reason within five days of receipt, please call or send us an e-mail to let us know there is a problem.  Upon receipt of the hat in its original condition, we will issue a refund for the value of the hat or exchange it for one that is smaller or larger.  You are responsible for the cost of shipping and insurance in both directions.

Trading Post-Quality Davy Crockett Hats

These Davy Crockett hats are made with rabbit skins and have a real raccoon tail.  The measurements shown below correspond to the head size the hat best fits.  Measure your head where the hat would sit to determine what size to order.  Please specify exact size of your head when ordering this item. 

The hats are unlined.  The hats have a 0.5" wide leather band.  Rabbit skin colors used may vary from the picture shown.

Tail:Genus and species:  Procyon lotor.

Made in Morocco (from Spanish rabbit skins tanned in Morocco and Canadian raccoon tails)

Premium Davy Crockett Hats

The Premium Davy Crockett hats are made from better grade, uniform coyote-colored rabbit skins (like the ones shown in the picture) and have a real raccoon tail.  They are lined and have a good-quality headband.  The measurements shown above correspond to the head size the hat best fits.  Measure your head where the hat would sit to determine what size to order.  The adult hats have a wider brim than the kids' hats.

These will be discontinued once our stock is sold. They are practically the same as the trading post quality hats from China (see above).

A Note on Raccoon Tails

Most of the raccoon skins sold in the world have been highlighted for the fashion industry when they are tanned.  This process gives the skins and tails a bluish tint.  Given that 95% of the skins are highlighted, this is generally what you will get when ordering raccoon tail hats.  Click HERE to go to our Raccoon Tail page to get a better idea of what a highlighted tail looks like.

International Shipping Costs

We get many requests for the Real Davy Crockett hats from outside of the United States.  The best way to ship the hats is to send them in a large bubble envelope via the U.S. Mail Service's Global Express Mail. With Global Express Mail, a tracking number is available and we can e-mail or call you with that information. 

You can save money by shipping using regular insured air mail, but this takes 1-2 weeks (plus customs delays--which can add up to 3 or 4 weeks) and does not offer a tracking number.  We cannot track parcels shipped by regular air mail and the U.S. Post Office will not investigate a shipment until at least one month has passed.  

Because the hats have raccoon fur or tails, an export permit is required from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.  This fee is US$150.00 regardless of the value of the shipment.  We stock some of the real Davy Crockett hats in our Canadian office and can ship from there to avoid the export fee.  The other hats are all warehoused in the U.S.
