The black bear
claws are very clean, nice-quality claws. They have
been cleaned and prepared to the best level we have seen anywhere.
The jumbo claws are about 2.5" to 3" long on the curve. They are typically from 300 to 500 pound black bears and are very rare. The large claws measure 2" to
2.5" on the curve. The rear claws measure 1" to 2"
on the curve. The claws are measured from the top of the white part to the
tip of the claw.
For a drilling fee of US$2.00 per claw we can lay the claw flat and drill them to allow them to be strung. We do not drill crosswise across the thin part of the claw. Many people do this, but it takes patience and accuracy to get exactly what you want.
The sets are a match set of 20 claws from
one bear with a mix of sizes. They range from 1.25" to
2.25".

Black
bear around the world are considered to be a threatened species. The
trade in these skins is regulated to ensure that the bears do not face
extinction. Black bear are no longer found in some areas, but are
quite plentiful in Canada. In fact, according to the Globe
& Mail, more than 100,000 black bears are thought to live in the
Canadian province of Ontario alone. All of our black bear products have been
legally acquired. Most of the bear skins come from legal hunting or
culling programs.
