In addition to the Tibet Lambskin Plates, we offer whole Tibet lamb skins. The plates are made by piecing together hair from the Tibet lamb. The whole skins are just what they say--whole skins, not pieced plates. The whole skins are ideal as rugs or for use by doll makers because the hair will fall in a consistent manner. The backs of the skins are also clean and can be used to draw or paint on. The large Tibet Lamb Skins are about 42" - 48" long and 21" - 24" wide. The dyed black skins range in size from 42" - 45" long and 19" - 22" wide. The hair length on the large skins and the black dyed is approximately 4" long when stretched. The short hair skins have a hair length of approximately 1.5" to 2" long.
Genus and species: Ovis aries. Ranch raised.
Tibet lamb are not endangered. The skins are a by-product of the food industry and the animals are not killed just for their skins.
