In addition to the Tibet Lambskin Plates, we offer whole Tibet lamb skins. The plates are made by piecing together hair from the Tibet lamb. The whole skins are just what they say--whole skins, not pieced plates. The whole skins are ideal as rugs or for use by doll makers because the hair will fall in a consistent manner. The backs of the skins are also clean and can be used to draw or paint on. The small Tibet Lamb Skins are about half the size of the large ones. For measurements, see the galleries below. The hair length on the small skins is approximately 1.5" to 2" long.
Genus and species: Ovis aries.
Tibet lamb are not endangered. The skins are a by-product of the food industry and the animals are not killed just for their skins.
