Gemsbok are a large
antelope also known as Oryx. The horns average 31"
to 37" long and 1.5" to 2" in diameter at the open end. They are mostly hollow inside.

species. They are also very tasty. I had an oryx steak
at a game lodge in Namibia and was very impressed with the flavor
and texture.
