Reindeer Leather

We can get a limited amount of reindeer leather.  The reindeer leather is sold by the hide. The hides average about 10 square feet, so expect to pay around US$200.00 per hide.

The reindeer are ranched by the Lapp in Finland.  The animals are killed for meat. The furs, legs, and feet are byproducts of the food industry.

Genus and species:  Rangifer tarandus. Ranch raised.

Reindeer are not an endangered species. Not subject to CITES.

A USFWS export permit is required for export out of the USA.

This leather is fairly thin (not stiff) and shiny.

The Anar (Adult) leather is thicker than the Saana (Calf) leather.

R-472-4901S Black Reindeer Leather:Saana

The Saana (Calf) leather is thinner than the Anar (Adult) leather.  One side is shiny and the other is suede. 

The piece we recently sold (above) was 6.8 sq. ft. Dimensions were as follows: 35" long, 20" wide across the top, 24" wide across the middle, and 34" wide across the bottom.

R-472-4901V Vegetable-tanned reindeer leather

This has a smooth, matte finish like cardboard.  The piece shown above measures 6.75" wide and 8" long.  This is 0.375 square feet.  The price for this piece is US$7.50.
