The Kaiser-i-Hind or "emperor of India" is a rare species of swallowtail butterfly. It is a mid- to high-altitude forest species found from Nepal and northern India to northern Vietnam. It is sought after for its beauty and rarity and is noted for the green iridiscence of its wings. Females are larger than males and have different coloration and markings. One main difference being the large yellow patch in the males are replaced by a much larger dark gray patch in the females.

The frame is 5.50" long by 4.50" wide, 1" thick and weighs 0.26 lbs (117 grams).

Genus and species: Teinopalpus imperialis.

Product of Vietnam.

The luna moth is a lime green moth with a wingspan of about 8 to 11.5 centimeters, making it one of the largest moths in North America. They have long, tapering hindwings with eyespots on them. Moving their long wing "tails" may distract predators, like bats, by throwing their attack off target.

This neotropical butterfly has translucent wings of pale blue to almost white with a series of black spots along the edges. Its hindwings are crossed with several small "eyes". It does not have the bright blue coloration of many Morpho species. Its wingspan is about 7.5 to 10 centimeters.

The frame is 6.25" long by 5.25" wide, 1" thick and weighs 0.36 lbs (163 grams).

The giant blue swallowtail with a bright yellow body is an African butterfly. The upperside of the wings are usually blue or greenish while the underside of the wings are light gray in color. The uppersides of the forewings have narrow black stripes. The uppersides of the hindwings have a black marginal band with a chain of blue spots. With a wingspan of 12 to 16 centimeters, it is the second largest African swallowtail. Females are slightly smaller than males and are less brightly colored.

The giant African swallowtail has a wingspan of about 18 to 23 centimeters. It is the largest butterfly in Africa and among the largest in the world. The males are larger than the females. The butterfly is very toxic.

Framed Butterfly:Gallery #08

The Goliath birdwing is the a birdwing butterfly found in Papua New Guinea. With a wingspan of up to 28 centimeters (11 inches), it is the second largest butterfly in the world after the Queen Alexandra's birdwing. The males have black forewings with green costal edges and large green triangles and golden hindwings with black edges bordered with a green line. Females are larger than the males and are dark brown with white spots and a broad yellow band with a chain of dark brown spots on the hindwings.

The frame is 12.25" long by 8.25" wide, 1" thick and weighs 1.22 lbs (553 grams).
